The Molly Huggins Foundation is here to help people and communities, today and for the long-term. It was created by MTVH in 2024 to accelerate community investment, in honour of the vision of our founding colleague and president, Lady Molly Huggins.
MTVH is one of the largest social landlords in England, owning and operating 57,000 homes across London, the South of England, the East Midlands, and East Anglia. Read about MTVH’s history here.> Inside Housing – Insight – Windrush to G15: the history of Metropolitan Thames Valley
Over the past decade, through austerity, a pandemic, and a cost-of-living crisis, MTVH has renewed its commitment to making a positive difference in our communities. So far, £50 million has been invested in providing homes and improving lives, through MTVH funding and partnerships.
Our ambition over the next ten years is to raise community investment from MTVH funds, fundraising and partnerships to £75 million through the Molly Huggins Foundation. We will prioritise places that lack funding, and work with local people to connect their experiences with external investment.
In 1957, we committed to working together to provide homes and communities. In 2024 and beyond, we are more committed to that vision than ever.

Questions
Why Molly Huggins?
-
- Social housing has changed enormously since 1957, with complex supply chains, digital services, interactions with financial markets and high regulatory expectations, but the story of communities facing homelessness and deprivation is still relevant today.
- The Molly Huggins Foundation builds on a period of honouring MTVH’s roots to Windrush with a constant and strong commitment to our founding principles. We believe we must work together to keep changing society for the better, for all.
- Lady Molly Huggins and our other founding colleagues were raised in a colonial period for Britain, which has had damaging effects on millions of people and has left a complicated legacy. We honour their foresight in seeing housing as a right for all and acting beyond the social norms of their times.
The Molly Huggins Foundation is a charity created and run by MTVH. It has no financial connections to Lady Molly Huggins or the descendants of Lady Molly Huggins.
Lived experience in decision-making.
The Molly Huggins Foundation understands the importance of lived experience and has always involved social housing residents in decision-making. By the end of 2024/25 we are committed to at least three Foundation board members having lived experience of the issues we serve, including social housing residents. By the end of 2025/26, at least half of our Board will have lived experience.
